Still hungry after cereal?

Ever wonder why you are hungry an hour after you set down your bowl of cereal?

Many cereals have the carbohydrates processed down to the simplest form of sugar.

These carbs are are almost ‘pre-digested’, and rapidly enter the blood stream causing a spike in your blood sugar. This is met by an equal spike in insulin which causes blood sugar to plummet – causing hunger and cravings.

Cereal also has little protein or fat, nutrients that provide satiety or fullness.

Solution? Eat your favorite cereal with a cup of yogurt or cottage cheese in place of milk. The added protein may be just what your body needs.
